Magical Haircuts

Magical Haircuts

It is no secret that children love Disney, but did you know that my daughter loves Disney so much that it is the only place she’ll get her hair cut!? Ridiculous, right? Disney is known for many things, but being cheap isn’t one of them. So of course their haircuts must be $50 to $100 before tax and tip! Except… that’s not true. In fact, I actually take her to one of the cheaper places around here in Orlando. Because, believe it or not, Disney’s haircuts for kids are pretty awesome and not that expensive!

Most people just walk right past the Harmony Barber Shop on their way down Mainstreet to see the Castle. This little gem has three haircut stations and a small front desk. It’s cramped, but what it lacks in size it makes up in magic and air conditioning. And the people who work this store not only cut hair, but are little child whisperers. Abigail used to throw a drop down, high pitched, my god I need some wine - fit at the idea of getting her hair cut. But now she loves having “the Disney people” do it. It might be the bubbles, or the myriad of toys they let her play with while they cut her hair (her favorite is the Elsa spinner). But she will let them brush out every knot, cut her hair for as long as it takes, and style it into any style without any protest. Meanwhile, if I even show her a brush she runs across the house screaming murder! So I feel like I have really found something truly special in this little barber shop. What used to be a horrible experience for everyone has turned into a fantastic Mommy & Daughter day out.  Even if you’re just here for vacation I really can’t recommend this place enough. The whole experience doesn’t take very long either. So you should be able to schedule it in among all the rides and lunches. It’s definitely a nice break where everyone can leave feeling refreshed.

Details:

  • The children’s haircut is $18!  This comes with a hairstyle and pixie dust - Abigail loves to get pigtails. If I was to take her to our local Great Clips it would cost me $13 and there would be no pigtails or pixie dust – much less bubbles and an Elsa light up spinning toy!

  • Adults can also get their hair cut here as well, but honestly I just love coming here for my daughter. And while I am waiting for her I do ask them to pixie dust my hair so that we can both sparkle as we walk around Magic Kingdom for the rest of the day (and maybe the next few days since glitter gets on everything).

  • They also do something that is just terribly cute at this barbershop; 1st time haircuts! This is a whole package deal that cost $25, however I have seen it and if your child does not lose his or her mind it is precious. The even get a special Mickey ears hat that says it is their first haircut.

  • This barbershop does take walk-ins but I highly suggest having an appointment, especially if you are on a tight schedule.

I really can’t suggest Harmony Barber Shop enough. Especially if your child was interested in Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or The Pirate’s League but you were unable to get an appointment, or gawked at the price. Plus, this is a real haircut unlike Bibbidi and Pirates where they just style it.  Overall it is a really magical and fun time all in all.
